I'M BACK.......

It's been quite a long time since I last posted. And it wasn't that I was being lazy or anything, just life happening and I simply didn't have the time to post anything (well anything of substance anyways). So now I'm BACK! Not just back to the blog, but back home too. Here's the highlights of the past 2 months.

Counseling, Band, Band, double Dr. appt, Yardsale, Band, Dr, Swim, book club....
Worship, blood work, band, counseling, missions get together, catering, catering, catering....
band, swim, worship, band, counseling, band, meds, swim, book club, worship, band, counseling....
(and that was just the remainder of September!)

Catering, catering, swim, book club, worship, Tay's Birthday, counseling, Tay's Party...
night service started (band), swim, pick up meds, double doctor, worship, counseling...
catering, catering, catering, drove to CO for a funeral...
(and then the rest of October was spent in CO)

Okay, So now that you've all had a quick recap of whats been going on, I can get to some real stuff. Many of you were following my FB posts as me and the kids traversed the United States to go be with my family for my Grandfather's passing/funeral. But besides what I posted during my actual journey, I didn't say a lot about what was happening, or anything while I was actually there (mainly because my Grandmother doesn't have internet access so I was dependent on my phone's internet).

We went to Colorado with the intent to see my Grandfather (the kids Great- Grandfather) before he passed away. He has battled cancer for many years and was in his final days. The kids had never met him, and although these were not the ideal circumstances, we thought it was important for them to meet him and see him at least once. It took 3 LONG, BOOOORRIINNGGG days to get to CO. I drove farther and through more states than I had ever personally driven (and yes it was on my own, Jon couldn't get the time off work).

The girls got to spend a few hours at Hospice with my Grandpa when we got into town. For this I am VERY thankful. He was having a "good day" and was in good spirits. He was smiling and happy and excited to see them. That was on Wed, Oct 19 (we left VA Oct 17). On Sat, Oct 22 he passed away. We were able to see him that morning before he passed, but he was not all there when we did see him. During the next few days my entire family on my mom's side came into town. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Great Cousins (or something like that) and tons of my Grandmother's friends. It was crazy! Tiny 4 bedroom house, and about 15 people staying there (and some at hotels). The funerals were nice. He was cremated and there was a Catholic Funeral (he was catholic, my grandmother is buddhist) and then a military funeral.

Even though we were in CO for such a sad occasion, we were able to have fun and do some fun things. I will get to some of the details of other events and happening later this week, so be looking for those posts! But overall, it was an.....interesting trip. Lots of pictures to come along with some crazy stories. Keep checking back for more. Thanks to all my friends who were praying for us during our trip. I appreciate it very much!
